Sheets Fixesby iloveblogs

How these pages are written

Who writes Sheets Fixes, where each fix comes from, and what is and is not tested.

Sheets Fixes answers one kind of question: a formula in Excel or Google Sheets returns an error or the wrong value, and you want to know why and what to change.

Who writes it. The pages are written by Mahdi Ben Rhouma, a software developer who also runs iloveblogs.blog, a site of fixes for developer errors. Drafting is assisted by AI tools; every page is checked by hand before it is published.

Where the fixes come from. Each page is built from the official documentation of the function or error it covers: Microsoft Support for Excel and the Google Docs Editors Help for Google Sheets. The sources are listed at the bottom of every page. When a page explains why a formula fails, that explanation comes from those documents, not from guesswork.

What is not claimed. Unless a page says otherwise, the formulas were not run in every version of Excel or Google Sheets. Behaviour can differ between Excel for Microsoft 365, older perpetual versions, Excel for the web and Google Sheets; pages say which version a rule applies to when the documentation does.

Corrections. If a page is wrong, it is corrected in place and its "Updated" date changes. Pages carry no advertising and set no cookies.
